Act of 18 April 2002 on the state of natural disaster (Dz.U.02.62.558) introduces the notion :
Natural disaster is a natural disaster or technical failure, the consequences of which threaten the life or health of a large number of persons, property in big sizes Or the environment in large areas, and assistance and protection can be effectively undertaken only with emergency measures, with the cooperation of various institutions and professional services and systems, operating under a single leadership.
defines a natural disaster of the above act as an event related to the forces of nature, particularly lightning, earthquakes, strong winds, heavy rainfall, prolonged occurrence of extreme temperatures, usuwiska land, fires, droughts, floods, ice phenomena on rivers and seas and lakes and other bodies of water, the mass occurrence of pests, plant diseases, or animals or action of another element.
